Fun Stuff
Some of the things I’m currently working on outside of “design” are:
My vegetable garden! It’s growing season in VA again and I’m adding hoops to my planters to try to grow zucchini better than last year. Wish me luck against those squash borer bugs that got my vines last year. I’ve also go shishito and biquinho peppers planned, and various herbs. Check back for some garden sketches and photos soon.
Tarot-inspired wood burning - because I needed yet another hobby, I’m using a mushroom tarot deck with intentional card pulls to inspire designs that I’ll burn into individual wooden charcuterie/wine trays for some friends. This may or may not be a gateway into tattooing ;)
I’m partnering with a local RVA glass artist to work in her shop and share stained glass ideas.
Designing and building a storage headboard that is both sturdy and wide enough for my big baby boys (cats Ink & Blot, who are 14 and 16lbs respectively). I’m in the requirements/design phase right now while I explore various connections and assembly methods that will allow me to 1) move it easily through hallways and up stairs, 2) build it in my tiny backyard with minimal equipment, and 3) assemble it on my own.
Certificates (ok, not everyone will think this is fun) - I’m leaning into my “free time” to learn more skills and pick up some certificates while I’m at it. Continuous learning is something that drew me to design in the first place, so I’m committing to picking up some certificates this year.
